Winners of NUS Awards 2009 announced
Congratulations to all the nominees, finalists and winners who participated in the NUS Awards 2009. The NUS Awards, held in partnership with Endsleigh, celebrate excellence and achievement in the student movement.
The winners were announced at a ceremony held at the Brewery in London on Friday 12 June, hosted by comedian and former Bristol University student, Marcus Brigstocke.
One of the evening's many highlights was the presentation of the first Liftetime Contribution Award to former NUS President, trade unionist and committed West Ham supporter, Fred Jarvis. On accepting his award Fred talked about the impact that his time in the student movement had on his career and life in general, as well as the importance of the work of today's students' unions and NUS.
The finalists were selected from almost 200 nominations from over 60 students' unions across the UK.
